Major Shoppe was an emerging fashion brand started by Marissa Fey and Veronica Costabile. This team of young, ambitious women began their careers as fashion photographers, featured in publications such as V Magazine and Vogue. I joined their team as an intern, where I helped prepare for the official shop opening. This included hand-sewing labels, visual merchandising, mannequin-dressing, photography, and handing out promotional materials. My time spent at Major Shoppe was inspiring and fun, but it was cut short when the shop very unexpectedly closed. The abrupt end of a brand with so much hope and enthusiasm behind it was shocking, and taught me a lesson about the unpredictable and cut-throat nature of the modern fashion industry.
